Rayees Ahmad Kumar, hailing from village Berigam Qazigund Kashmir is a columnist, Fiction Writer, Book Reviewer and occasionally composes poems in English and native language Kashmiri also. He has recieved his academic education from Govt Primary school Berigam, Govt High School Sopat, Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Anantnag and Govt Degree College Boys Khanabal.

He has done his PG in Political Science from IGNOU the world’s largest university and B.Ed from Rehmat-e-Alam College of Education Anantnag, Presently he is pursuing another PG (M.Sc Environmental Science) through IGNOU.

He has been habitual of newspaper reading right from his school days. Whenever his father or grandfather fetched any newspaper from the market he would never miss to read it. Reading articles and columns was his passion from the beginning. It is due to that he developed affinity and interest for writing.

His first article was published by “Aash” the annual magazine of Govt BHSS Anantnag. Then few of his write-ups were given space by “Verinag” also the annual magazine of Govt Degree College Khanabal. Moving forward Rayees continued to write for local and national newspapers and magazines.

His articles and columns are regularly published by local and national dailies, weeklies and monthly magazines. His columns mostly cover social issues, educational and cultural elements. He is an avid lover of nature and aspires for global peace.
